Description
Malleable iron pipe fittings are often used when installing oil and fuel lines at industrial or commercial premises. Iron pipe is heavy-duty and therefore more resistant to impact damage or vandalism.
This fitting has a nominal bore of 1 1/2" or 40mm and the overall fitting diameter is 48mm.
When installing threaded pipe the joint should be made using a suitable thread sealant or jointing compound.
Fittings should be painted after installation to prevent external corrosion.
Top Tip:
When identifying the correct pipe size it is useful to remember that steel pipe is sized on the internal diameter so, for instance, if a pipe is 1" BSP the internal bore will be 25mm or 1" and if measured externally it will be 34mm. If replacing an existing fitting the actual BSP pipe size is usually stamped on the side of the fitting.
