It is essential that when making compression joints in a copper oil line that a tight seal is made and in doing so the pipe olive doesn't crush the copper pipe, otherwise you won't achieve an oil-proof connection.

To overcome this problem, insert one of these inserts (which are manufactured from brass) into your 10mm copper pipe before making the connection.

Press the insert into the open-end of the 10mm copper pipe and this will prevent the pipe from deforming when tightening the compression fitting. The use of inserts in soft copper is recommended by OFTEC.
